Silver Bombilla

These delicate handmade silver bombillas fitted with a salt-water pearl on the end are ideal to enjoy a mini moonshine mate.  Concerned about the quality of the bomba that he was using to drink mate, blacksmith Philipp Kirschfink was inspired to make this bombilla out of silver due to its anti-bacterial properties.

“My idea was to make a minimalist ‘fixie’ bombilla, without tedious and hard to clean threads, coils and no welding/soldering, easy to maintain, with high quality materials and at an affordable price; and it ended up becoming a little jewel. The bombilla is crafted by hand (without machines) at my workshop from massive sterling silver tubing and wire, and a saltwater pearl. The diagonal narrow grooves on the tubing offer ideal filtration without clogging, while the pearl seals the end and can be pressed away (spring loaded) and back in a second for cleaning. The surface is hammered and polished to high gloss. It is a very compact design (12cm long), ideal for both travels and at home. Recommended for cut (and not powdered) mate and water temp range of 65-70C.”
